The above photograph is the new porch. Yep, it is indeed happening! The structural part is mostly done (roof, shingles, extended walls, etc). The floor isn't in, but the joists are, so there are plywood boards serving as a floor right now, and the stairs are just the old stoop stairs, now removed from the house, set next to it. Thing is, it's functional already - it can pour down rain, and I do not get wet going in the door.
In general I think the roof line looks much better now, not so much like "oh, someone slapped a lean-to on the side of the house." You can see too that in order to build the new roof on and have it be even with the rest of the roof, the walls of the front room have been extended upward. I like that, too, the windows are more balanced now. I might put some window boxes on later, dunno. Anyways, it just looks more, well, "together," like the other houses around. I've gotten nice comments from my neighbors too, for what it's worth, which is good. I've had "porch envy" for quite some time, finally I have one of my OWN, muahahaha...
